October 24-26, 2012: 2nd ACTTION Scientific Workshop Resounding Success
The 2nd ACTTION Scientific Workshop was held at the FDA's White Oak campus in Silver Spring, Maryland. The major objectives of the three-day workshop were to discuss progress, prospects, and opportunities for preclinical research on pain mechanisms and analgesic drug effects; to describe ongoing efforts for improving the research methods of Phase 1, 2, and 3 analgesic trials; and to examine the role of biomarkers and related measures in the development of improved analgesic treatments. Approximately 150 individuals attended, and the presentations and panel discussions identified important opportunities for future studies and other activities to advance ACTTION’s mission.
